Publix Sneak Peek 7/27-8/2

Not very much happening at all this week at Publix, but here is a link to the matchups from I Heart Publix anyway.  The only thing I came up with is cereal, which we really don't need any more of right now!

General Mills Cereal: Honey Nut, Regular, or Multigrain Cheerios, Lucky Charms, Reese’s Puffs, Cookie Crisp, or Cinnamon Toast Crunch, 15.6 to 21.25 oz, BOGO up to $5.19
-$2/2 General Mills Cheerios Cereal peelie
-FREE 4-pack of Yoplait yogurt WYB Multigrain Cheerios peelie
Use both coupons to get 2 boxes of cereal and 2 packs of yogurt for $3.19 (80 cents each item)

And free Scotch scissors again.  I think I may skip Publix and just pick up fresh produce at Costco or the farm stand.  We also need milk, but I may be able to get it free at Rite Aid with +UP rewards.  Or I may take all the free item coupons I've been hanging on to and finally cash them in.  If I can get to $50 before coupons, I could get my milk free with a competitor $5 off $50.  Slow week at Publix!

My biggest advice for back-to-school shopping: take the loss-leaders and run!  Then the week before school you can see what is still missing from your list and go get it.  So far I have spent a net total of 25 cents + tax on items for my son's school supply list.  We have marked 10 items off the list and have 2 more to go.  I will give you a final total when we are all done!

I had more time to shop last week, so I was able to hit several different stores throughout the week.  I should have a lot of time this week and maybe next week, too!

Staples freebies 7/10-7/13

Staples has the best school supply deals this week, in my opinion.  My Staples accepts Office Max and Office Depot competitor coupons, so I will be using the $5 off $25 Office Max coupon from this week's ad.  Here is my plan:

Buy:
2 Staples Multipurpose paper 500-sheet $5.99 ea. = $11.98
1 HP photo paper 50-pack $9.99
1 Germ-X 8 oz. $2
2 Staples Glue Sticks 4-pack $1 ea. = $2
2 Bic Round Stic 8-pack $0.01 ea. = $0.02
2 Staples cap erasers 12-pack $0.01 ea. = $0.02
2 Staples School Glue 4 oz. $0.01 ea. = $0.02
Subtotal = $26.03

Use:
-$5 off $25 Office Max
-$5 Staples rewards Teacher (emailed to me as a thanks for being a teacher, I did not earn it!)

Pay: $16.03 initially

Earn: $21.47 Easy Rebate check

Net: $5.44 moneymaker

FREE School supplies!  Even if you do not have the rewards certificate, everything is still a tiny moneymaker.  You basically just pay tax!

I would get a $1 item (or 4 of the $0.25 items) and skip the Germ-X if it were not specifically on the list we have from our school.  I have plenty of free Purell left that I got last summer, but I don't want to upset the teacher if they are supposed to have Germ-X.  Personally, I can't stand the smell of Germ-X, it gives me a headache!!

7/10/11 Update: A little sna-fu at the store, they did not allow me to use the competitor coupon on the "Hot Buys" such as the penny items or 25-cent items.  Therefore, I altered my order and bought 2 of the HP photo paper with one ream of multipurpose paper in a single transaction.  The total was over $25 and there were no Hot Buys in that transaction, so they allowed the $5 off $25.  I bought a second ream of the multipurpose paper along with my Hot Buys and used my $5 reward certificate on that order.  My Easy Rebates are showing the full amount, so no deductions for using coupons/rewards, at least not so far.  FREE school supplies!

Rite Aid quick shop: $7.25 moneymaker!

I had a $5 +UP reward from Rite Aid that expires tonight.  Of course, that means a last minute trip to Rite Aid during a lightening storm!  I quickly pulled out my coupons and found a few things still in stock with 30 minutes left in this weeks sale.  Remember that I have a 20% discount off the full price with my Wellness Card since I have Gold status.  I get the sale price or 20% off the full price, whichever is lower.

4 Jergens Natural Glow 2 oz. $1.99 (regular $2.49)
1 Oral B 3D White Advantage toothbrush $2.57 (regular $3.99)
1 Oral B Pulsar toothbrush $4.79 (regular $5.99)
Subtotal: $15.32

Used the following coupons:
(2) -$1/1 Jergens printable (no longer available)
-$2/1 Oral-B Pulsar Manual Toothbrush (P&G 06/05/11)
-$2/1 Oral-B Advantage Toothbrushes (P&G 07/03/11)
-$1 Wellness coupon
-$7 +UP previously earned

TOTAL: $1.32 + $0.93 tax = $2.25

EARN: $12 +UP rewards and $4.50 SCR for a net $7.25 moneymaker after the +UP I spent.  Love it!

Red = Costco
Blue = Trader Joe's

Traer Joe's is nostalgic for me.  At one time several years back, I lived very close to Wal-Mart and shopped there almost exclusively.  I was spending around $100 a week for just myself and my husband. After my first child began eating table food, I wanted healthier options so I drove out of my way to shop at Trader Joe's.  I was spending only $70 per week for the same quantity of food.  30% off Wal-Mart prices everyday, and the food is better for you.  Now that I have learned to maximize coupon shopping, I have strayed from the healthier foods too far, unfortunately.  In the future, I will be trying to purchase fewer junk food items and may even join a vegetable co-op.
